Welcome to Fossil ID ("App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Fossil ID provides a mobile application that allows users to photograph or upload images of fossils and receive on-device identification suggestions based on a machine learning model. The service is intended for educational and hobbyist use. Results are not a substitute for professional paleontological or scientific identification.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Account and Registration

Some features may require an Apple ID. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

• Free tier: The App may offer a limited number of free identifications per user. Limits are determined by us and may change with notice.
• Premium subscription: Premium features are available through an auto-renewing subscription purchased via the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you agree to pay the subscription fee at the then-current rate.
• Billing: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.
• Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store's refund policy. We do not control refund decisions.
• Price changes: We may change subscription prices with advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws.
• Use the App to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App or its models (except as permitted by applicable law).
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App or its outputs without permission.
