This Privacy Policy describes how Fossil ID ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Fossil ID mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account and subscription: If you subscribe to Premium, Apple processes your payment. We do not receive your full payment card number. We may receive transaction and subscription status information from Apple (e.g., that a subscription is active) to enable Premium features.
- Support or feedback: If you contact us (e.g., by email), we collect the information you provide (name, email, message content) to respond to you.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage and diagnostics: We may collect anonymous or aggregated data about how the App is used (e.g., feature usage, crash reports) to improve the App. If the App uses Apple's analytics or similar tools, that data may be collected in accordance with Apple's policies.
- Device information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and support.
1.3 Information Processed On-Device Only
- Photos and identifications: Photos you take or select for fossil identification are processed entirely on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers. Identification results and history are stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them (e.g., via the share sheet). We do not have access to your photo library or identification history unless you explicitly send them to us (e.g., in a support request).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.
- Verify subscription status and deliver Premium functionality.
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests.
- Analyze usage in an aggregated way to improve performance and user experience.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
